TITLE: Transverse sinus
DESCRIPTION: The forceps is in the transverse sinus of pericardium. Anterior to it are the aorta and the pulmonary trunk. It is due to folding of the embryonic heart tube. It is often used to tie a ligature during bypass surgery.
