Description:
The Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment is a multi-dimensional approach used to determine the medical, psychological and functional capabilities of an elderly person and to develop a comprehensive plan for management. Please begin by reviewing the PowerPoint presentation on D2L entitled "Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment." You will find there the basic outline of the assessment and some examples of items we review with patients. In this learning module, you will find an interview between a physician and an elderly couple. Review the interview, complete the attached comprehensive geriatric assessment tool with the relevant history and submit your completed document. Please note some parts of the tool have been completed in advance. This is an exercise in obtaining appropriate history from an elderly patient. We will return to this case at a later date to discuss cognitive testing, integrate the information collected and develop a management plan.
