Physician Management & Leadership Program
The Physician Management & Leadership Program (PMLP) draws on the results of a comprehensive needs assessment, the latest research, and innovative educational practices to deliver a unique educational experience. Participants will explore a range of topics pertaining to leadership and management. The topics are designed to prepare participants for leadership roles in the province’s health care system.

Accreditation
The Program recognizes that there are frameworks in place at the professional colleges to recognize continuing professional development (CPD) activities. The Physician Management & Leadership Program is a ten module accredited certificate program. Please consult the online content for each module for more detailed information on the CPD credits available.
- Each Group Learning module in the Program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by the Office of Professional Development, Memorial University for Mainpro+ group learning credits.
- Each module in the Program is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by Memorial University for Maintenance of Certification (Section 1) credit hours.
Dates and Time Commitment
- September – July: 4 weekends in St. John’s, NL and completion of three online courses.
- Approximately 52 hours. This includes prep and pre reading of material and submission of an applied learning report at the end of the program.
Seats
The maximum number of seats accepted annually is 40.
The Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University and the Regional Health Authorities in the province fund a number of seats for members of their respective organizations. If you intend to apply for one of these seats, please contact your Regional Health Authority (RHA).
