Health Professions Educational Scholarship Forum: Call For Abstracts

The Office of Professional & Educational Development (OPED) invites you to submit an abstract for the Health Professions Educational Scholarship Forum - Virtual for 2021! The Forum will be a one-day virtual event held on November 23rd, 2021. The deadline for abstract submission is September 24th, 2021.

This interprofessional symposium brings together educational research and innovation in the health professions throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and affiliated programs. We welcome submissions from faculty, staff, and learners from all fields who are engaged in health professions education.

Submissions may focus on any aspect of undergraduate, postgraduate, graduate education, and/or continuing education/continuing professional development. Topics may include, but are not limited to:

  • competency-based education;
  • digital technologies in education;
  • interprofessional education;
  • simulation in health professions education;
  • teaching methods;
  • learner assessment;
  • quality improvement and evaluation; and,
  • transformative learning.

  • You will be asked to indicate your preferred format – either a 3-minute mini-presentation, a 10-minute presentation or a 75-minute workshop. Abstracts are limited to 350 words.

  • The 3-minute mini-presentations replace a traditional poster delivery to a digital format through a summary review of the research project or innovation. Please note that your preferred format will be considered but cannot be guaranteed.

    Abstracts must be submitted online by September 24th 2021.

    Abstracts will be published in an open access journal hosted by the Health Sciences Library.

    The Office of Professional & Educational Development (OPED), Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University, is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME), a subcommittee of the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS). This standard allows OPED to assign credits for educational activities based on the criteria established by The College of Family Physicians of Canada, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
