It is already August and we are almost five months into navigating the COVID19 pandemic. I continue to be impressed by the motivation, passion and commitment of our learners, staff and faculty. Dr. Travis Pickett (MD ’20) is the recipient of the prestigious Memorial University Chancellor’s Award and Fry Family Foundation Undergrad Leadership Award. Dr. Pickett was selected as Memorials most outstanding undergrad student leader.

Cancer has become increasingly prevalent in First Nations, Inuit and Métis populations in recent decades in Canada. In fact, it’s one of the leading causes of death for Indigenous peoples.
 
Dr. Jennifer Shea is hoping that her latest research project will help by making cancer care delivery more culturally responsive and respectful.

Dr. Kim St. John has been awarded the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada James H. Graham Award of Merit.
 
Dr. St. John has years of service to the Royal College, including 18 years on the Psychiatry Examination Board. Spanning more than 20 years in total, her service stretches from the creation of specialty standards for psychiatry and aiding in development and recognition of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry subspecialty, to review of other specialties’ standards and accreditation.
