Family Medicine


Welcome to the Family Medicine/Emergency Medicine Residency Training Program at Memorial University of Newfoundland!

We are very proud to offer a robust training program that will challenge you as a resident but prepare you for an exciting and fulfilling career. Our goal is to ensure graduates are ready to practice the full spectrum of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine - from rural/remote environments to tertiary teaching hospitals.

The Program was first granted Approval in May 2003 and commenced training its first resident in September 2003. The Program was most recently granted Full Approval in July 2018.

Successful completion of this twelve-month program will lead to eligibility to sit the Examination of Added Competence in Emergency Medicine. Candidates who successfully complete the examination receive a certificate and will be able to use the CCFP (EM) designation.
