Experimental Design


The confocal digital imaging unit is located in Room H1710 in the Health Sciences Centre. 
The unit operated on a fee-for-service basis, and is available to both internal and external users.

Hours of Operation

Monday through Friday 9:00am-5:00pm.
Reduced hours (9:00am-4:30pm) June 1st through September 1st.

Equipment and Services

Olympus Fluoview FV1000 laser scanning microscope
  • Inverted biological microscope
  • 6 lasers with SIM scanner
  • Broad application support including: multi-colour imaging, co-localization, and live-cell imaging.
  • User training is provided for a fee.
Olympus Fluoview FV300 laser scanning microscope
  • Upright biological microscope
  • 3 lasers
  • Equipped with a SPOT RT CCD Cool Camera to image bright field or fluorescent preparations.


Scheduling and Data Policies

Booking time is through the scheduler located in Room H1710, or call/email to book instrument time.
A requisition is required at time of use.
Users are responsible for removing data files at time of acquisition.
