What brought me to MUN? What keeps me at MUN?

MUN provided me a good opportunity to start my career as an independent researcher. As a junior faculty member, faculty of medicine has provided a lot of support and help which led to the success of my research grant applications.  The good research environment and supportive research facilities at MUN will make my academic research career successful.

Education:

PhD in Epidemiology (Feb 2013), University of Alberta (Canada
Major: Genetic Epidemiology
MSc in Epidemiology (Nov 2005), University of Alberta (Canada)
Major: Epidemiology & Biostatistics
MPH (Sep 1997), Peking Union Medical College (Beijing, China)
Major: Epidemiology & Biostatistics
MD (Jul 1991), Tianjin Medical University (Tianjin, China)

Training:

Postdoctoral fellow (May 2013-Nov 2014), University of Alberta (Canada)
Major: Clinical Epidemiology in Tuberculosis
Research/Teaching Summary:

Research:

Since I joined MUN in November 2014, I have been actively involved in many research projects conducted by clinicians and researchers from different departments of MUN and other universities in Canada.  As a result of these collaborations, my research project on Osteoarthritis (as PI) and another project on occupational diseases (as Co-applicant) were recently funded. Several grant applications (as Co-applicant) have been submitted to CIHR and other funding agency.

Teaching:

I am the course chair of MED 6250 (Introduction to Clinical Epidemiology) for the fall semester 2015.  I am the co-supervisor of one MSc student and one postdoctoral fellow, and supervisory committee member of two MSc students.
