First Annual Medical Education Scholarship Forum

The Faculty of Medicine’s First Annual Medical Education Scholarship Forum will be held Nov. 22, 2012 at R. Gushue Hall. You are invited to submit an abstract for an oral presentation or poster. Submissions may focus on undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education/continuing professional development. The deadline for abstract submissions is August 1, 2012.
 

Eligibility for abstract submissions is:
• The content of each abstract you develop is unique.
• You (first person listed on abstract) verify that all co-presenter(s), (if applicable), consent to be included on the abstract.
• You and your co-presenter(s), (if applicable), are able and willing to present at any time during the day of the forum.
• You and your co-presenter(s), (if applicable), plan to register for, attend, and present at the forum.
• You and your co-presenter(s), (if applicable), are able to pay all expenses to present at and attend the forum (i.e., preparing and copying of presentation materials, travel, hotel, etc.).

Oral presentations will be allotted 15 minutes for both presentation and discussion time. Posters will be available for viewing throughout the day.

Please prepare your abstract according to the following guidelines.  Accepted abstracts will be printed as submitted in the forum program.
• Full Title – The full title of your abstract
• Authors 
• Author 1 –  Last name, first name
• Author 2 –  Last name, first name
• Author 3 –  Last name, first name
• Discipline / division of each author (if different from the first author)
• Body of abstract
Organize the body of the abstract to include the following:
• Background, statement of the problem or introduction
• Objective(s)
• Methods used
• Results obtained
• Conclusion(s)
The body of the abstract is not to exceed to 350 words.

Synopsis – A two or three sentence summary of abstract to be used for program promotion
Disclosure Statement – Include any involvement with industry or other organizations that may potentially influence the presentation of educational material.  Include any sources of funding for any projects that form the basis of your presentation.
Deadline for abstract submissions is August 1, 2012.

Abstracts will be received by the Medical Education Scholarship Centre (MESC) via e-mail at mesc@med.mun.ca.  You will be sent an e-mail acknowledging receipt of your submission.  Abstracts will be reviewed for appropriate content by the Academic Council of the centre.  Notification of acceptance and schedule information will be forwarded to you by the end of August 2012.
