Dr. Sevtap Savas has been awarded an international award: The Spandidos Publications Award for an Outstanding Achievement/Best Presentation.
 
The scientific conference focusing on cancer research conference, the 24th World Congress on Advances in Oncology and 24th International Symposium on Molecular Medicine, was held on Oct. 10-12, 2019 in Greece.
 
Dr. Savas is an associate professor with the Discipline of Genetics and cross appointed with tne Discipline of Oncology. She was an invited as a speaker in the conference where she talked about two of her lab’s recent publications. Both of these papers focus on the relationship of subunits of a protein complex called SWI/SNF and patient outcomes in human cancers, including colorectal cancer. The work includes other investigators as well: Ms. Georgia Skardasi, a former research assistant, and Mr. Yajun Yu, a senior PhD student in the Dr. Savas’ lab.
 
“To receive such an honour and international recognition has been a humbling and very pleasant experience. I plan to continue to work on this interesting and important research topic. This award has certainly been an extra boost for my motivation to do so,” says Dr. Savas.
