Graduate student presents research at national and international meeting

Yajun Yu, a first-year PhD student in the Discipline of Genetics gave an oral presentation on colorectal cancer and genetic markers of patient outcomes at the Target Meeting’s 4th World Cancer Online Conference held between May 17 and May 19, 2016.  Yajun is supervised by Dr. Sevtap Savas.
 
Yajun Yu, a first-year PhD student in the Discipline of Genetics gave an oral presentation on colorectal cancer and genetic markers of patient outcomes at the Target Meeting’s 4th World Cancer Online Conference held between May 17 and May 19, 2016. The title of Yajun's presentation was “Structural variants in TGFBR3, STEAP2, and FILIP1L genes may associate with disease outcomes in colorectal cancer”. He also gave a poster presentation titled “Common Copy Number Variations (CNVs) and relapse-free survival in colorectal cancer” at the 5th Annual Canadian Human Statistical Genetics Meeting (GHSGM) held in Halifax, between April 16 and April 19, 2016.  



Yajun is supervised by Dr. Sevtap Savas in the Discipline of Genetics. This research project was supported mainly by the Dean's Innovation Fund - Medical Research Foundation, in the Faculty of Medicine, and by Colon Cancer Canada. Collection of the patient cohort and their data was previously funded by other agencies such as CIHR, RDC, and ACOA.
