Health Professions Educational Scholarship Forum Call for Abstracts

The Medical Education Scholarship Centre (MESC) invites you to submit an abstract for the Health Professions Educational Scholarship Forum, formerly the Medical Education Scholarship Forum. This is a new collaboration between the Faculties of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy for the purpose of highlighting educational research and innovation in the health professions at Memorial University. We welcome submissions from faculty, staff, students, and residents from all Faculties of Memorial University who are engaged in health professions education.

Submissions may focus on any aspect of undergraduate, postgraduate, graduate education, and/or continuing education/continuing professional development. Topics may include, but are not limited to:

  • competency-based education;
  • digital technologies in education;
  • interprofessional education;
  • simulation in health professions education;
  • teaching methods;
  • learner assessment;
  • quality improvement and evaluation; and,
  • transformative learning.

Abstracts must be submitted online:

You will be asked to indicate your preferred format – either a 10-minute oral presentation, a poster presentation, a workshop (1.5 hours), or a 3-minute "teaching tip." The teaching tip is a new mode of presentation in which speakers provide a short pitch on a trouble-shooting strategy or approach to teaching that they have found successful. Please note that your preferred format will be considered but cannot be guaranteed.

Abstracts must contain the following information:

  • Body of abstract (max 350 words)

The Forum will be a 1-day event held on 27 November 2018 at the Medical Education Centre in St. John's. MESC cannot assume any costs associated with travel or presentations.
