The Dean’s Transition Fund

NOTE: The Dean's Transition Fund will become inactive as of March 31, 2016.  The final meeting for review of eligible applications will be in March.  Please submit a complete application electronically to by March 2, 2016, to considered.

The Dean’s Transition Fund was established by Dean James Rourke, designed to support established research programs in the Faculty of Medicine which could benefit from bridge funding between granting cycles for external awards.

The Transition Fund will grant a number of awards annually, based on available funding. This is a year-round opportunity with no set submission deadlines. Only applications that have been unsuccessful in renewal and continued support will be considered for funding from this initiative.

Awards will not exceed 40 per cent of the awarded project’s original budget, up to a maximum of $50,000. This competition is open to all full or joint-appointed faculty members in the Faculty of Medicine with existing highly competitive research programs in need of funding to maintain infrastructure such as critical personnel and data collection. Applications that have received funding from other granting agencies or organizations will not be eligible.
