Important Information for 2020-2021 Applicants

The CaRMS Online Admissions Application Service will open on June 30, 2020 @ 12:00pm NDT for the August 2021 application cycle. Please note that we have had to amend this date due to delays in updating the application platform.

The application deadline date to apply for August 2021 is Wednesday, September 2, 2020, 11:59pm NDT (Newfoundland Daylight Time).

The deadline to write the MCAT for the 2021 application cycle has been extended to Saturday, August 29, 2020. No MCAT scores obtained after this date will be accepted for this cycle. We are also granting an extension to the expiry date by 12 months, for this year only - scores older than September 2, 2014 will not be accepted.
The AAMC has recently updated their testing schedule in response to COVID-19. Further details are available on our MCAT and COVID-19 Impact tabs and at the MCAT Coronavirus Page

The CASPer exam is being added as a requirement to the application process, effective June 1, 2020. Test dates have not yet been finalized by Altus Assessments; please check this webpage regularly to find your test date options when they become available. It is anticipated that the exam will be available to write in late August and not before August 1, 2020.

There will be notable changes this year to deadlines, residency definitions, allowable references and acceptable extracurricular activities. Please refer to this webpage regularly to stay informed.

Please note the following regarding deadlines:

  • The MCAT must be written within six years of the application deadline and the scores released to Memorial University prior to the deadline date. MCAT scores written prior to September 2, 2014 are expired. Any applicants with expired scores must have a current MCAT score in order to submit a complete application.
  • MCAT scores must be released by the applicant to Memorial University. Scores are not forwarded to Admissions by AAMC without the student's permission.
  • Official transcripts must have an issue date from the applicant’s educational institution on or before the deadline date.
All transcripts, MCAT scores, and references MUST be sent to:

  • Reference letters need 3-4 working days after submission to CaRMS to appear on the applicant’s file. All references must be submitted to CaRMS by the deadline date. It is the applicant's responsibility to follow up with references and adhere to this deadline.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applicants are strongly encouraged to monitor their CaRMS account regularly to ensure their application is complete and follow-up with their institutions and/or references as required before the deadline date. The Admissions Office cannot confirm if documents and references have been received. As documents are received at CaRMS, applicants can confirm receipt by monitoring their account. Application fees are non-refundable.
Applicants selected for an interview will be interviewed in the fall of 2020; November 14 &15, 2020 are tentatively selected as the interview dates for the 2020-2021 application cycle.
