The Newfoundland Bone Conference is a 3-day scientific workshop that will be held in July of 2006 in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. It will also incorporate the 9th International Conference on Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) and PTH-related protein (PTHrP). This conference will bring together world-renowned basic, translational and clinical researchers from around the globe who have expertise within the field of hormonal regulation of mineral and bone metabolism. Topics to be discussed include parathyroid physiology, hypercalcemia of malignancy, post-transplant bone disease, strontium, vitamin D, and osteoporosis. A half-day workshop/symposium will be devoted to exploring how the skeleton recovers rapidly and completely from losses of mineral content induced by lactation. This conference is being organized and hosted by Dr. Christopher Kovacs, Professor of Medicine (Endocrinology and Metabolism) at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
