Roaring '20s evening was a roaring success

The medical students' annual charity fundraiser, Monte Carlo Night -- an evening of games of chance held Nov. 22, 1996, with a Roaring '20s theme -- drew in $27,900 this year, benefitting six charities in the amount of $4,650 each. The cheques were handed out to representatives of the not-for-profit organizations last month. On hand for the ceremony were Angela Noble, one of the medical students who co-ordinated Monte Carlo Night; Derrick Moore, Booth Memorial High School Infant Daycare Centre; Julie Morrow, Canadian Mental Health Association; Norma White, Emmanuel House; Bill Leonard, Choices for Youth; Dr. Peter Grant, Spirit of '80 Fund; and Andrew Pickle, a medical student who also helped to organize the event. Yvette Walton of the Single Parents Association of Newfoundland was unable to attend the cheque presentation ceremony.
