| Charities benefit from Monte Carlo
About $40,000 was raised at November’s Monte Carlo Charity Gala and on Feb. 25 cheques for $6,500 each were given to representatives of six charities: Xavier House in Corner Brook, which provides assistance with personal care and medical needs; the Canadian Paraplegic Association, Newfoundland and Labrador Division; the Calypso Foundation, a work-oriented rehabilitation centre in Lewisporte; the Canadian Council for the Blind, Helen Keller Club, Grand Falls-Windsor; the Canadian Mental Health Association, Newfoundland and Labrador Foundation; and the St. Anthony Boys and Girls Club.
