Student Research Forum
Nine presentations were made at the 1998 Medical Students' Research
Forum, held Sept. 15. First place went to Lynette Penney (C) for her presentation on the
identification of the fifth locus for Bardet-Biedl Syndrome using a pooled DNA method of
homozygosity mapping. Second place was awarded to Cyril DeSilva (L) for a presentation on
the extraction and identification of antioxidants from niger seeds. The presentations were
made by Dr. Bill Bavington (R), one of the judges at this year's forum.
