Alumni news

Class of 1973

Dr. Paul L. Hart received the 7th Annual Dr. A. Jane Fitzpatrick Community Service Award at the fall meeting of the Worcester District Medical Society in Massachusetts. Dr. Hart is a solo family practitioner in Sterling and he has made community service an important part of his life. His work on behalf of the under and non-insured patient is described by the Worcester District Medical Society as "inspirational." He took on this crusade in the early 90s and founded the Worcester Evening Free Medical Service held on Monday evenings at the Epworth Methodist Church. The clinic continues to expand and now treats about 90 patients a week who receive services including free medications, immunizations, laboratory studies, diagnostic services and referrals to specialists. This clinic has spurred the growth and development of additional free care clinics in local and outlying areas.

Class of 1982

Dr. Gerard Parsons has been in general practice in Dawson City, Yukon, since 1986. He is just completing an eight-month sabbatical comprised of rustic cabin life in the Yuokon wilds, far removed from phones, computers, electricity, and the necessity for perpetual awareness of time. He definitely has no email address!

Class of 1993

Dr. Sabine Jurgens and Dr. Chris Vaillancourt are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Elise, on Aug. 1 1997 in Saint John, N.B. Dr. Jurgens writes that she has interrupted her family practice locums and emergency department work to be on maternity leave. They live in the country near Saint John, "an ideal and beautiful setting for outdoor sports the year round."

Class of 1997

Dr. Patricia Forgeron is now doing a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation in Ottawa.
