Anatomical Gift Program

Memorial University will train over 1500 doctors and more than 5,000 nurses, pharmacists and other health care workers in the next quarter century. Medical science is very grateful to those benevolent individuals who bequeath their bodies for use after their deaths to help doctors and other health scientists to learn the intricacies of the human body, prepare for clinical practice, and carry out medical research.

The anatomy unit is located on the second floor of the Health Science Centre and comprises a large dissecting room, mortuary, embalming facilities and several adjoining laboratories all under the care of the Anatomy Technicians, SheriLee Chambers and Barry Trenchard. Two large teaching rooms are available for up to 30 students. The anatomy unit has available an array of charts, models and plastinated specimens.
