Dr. Gary Paterno has been appointed associate dean of the Division of BioMedical Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine for a three-year term as of Jan. 1.

President Gary Kachanoski has announced the Memorial University’s outstanding educators, researchers and staff members for 2014. Three members of the Faculty of Medicine received awards at a ceremony Dec. 11 at the Bruneau Innovation Centre for Research and Innovation.

The fall 2014 issue of MUNMED is now available in electronic format. This issue features the opening of the new Medical Education Centre, the 2014 international ASPIRE Award of Excellence in Social Acountability, and Dr, Thomas Michalak's induction into the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.

Dr. Ken Hirasawa, an associate professor in the Division of BioMedical Sciences, has received an innovation grant from the Canadian Cancer Society. Dr. Ann Dorward, also an associate professor in the Division of BioMedical Sciences, is a co-applicant of the grant.
