A new study that was conducted in Newfoundland and Labrador has looked at the diagnostic yield of two newer genetic testing methods among children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In some cases, the ASD-associated genetic changes result in targeted medical treatment of the child at an earlier age.

Salem Werdyani, a third-year master’s student in the human genetics program, gave an invited talk at the 5th UAE National Genetic Diseases Conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, held Sept. 13-17, 2014. His talk was on “Features of the Copy Number Variations (CNVs) in a cohort of colorectal cancer patients.”
