Salem Werdyani, a third-year master’s student in the human genetics program, gave an invited talk at the 5th UAE National Genetic Diseases Conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, held Sept. 13-17, 2014. His talk was on “Features of the Copy Number Variations (CNVs) in a cohort of colorectal cancer patients.”

Dr. Terry-Lynn Young, an associate professor in Discipline of Genetics, is one of three Canadian women appointed on June 26 to the Governing Council of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). The appointments are for three-year terms.

Asan Haja Mohideen and Ashar Pirzada have completed their M.Sc. (human genetics) and convocated in May 2014.

Lydia Annabel Dan, a master’s student in the Discipline of Genetics supervised by Dr. Sevtap Savas, made a poster presentation at the third annual Canadian Human and Statistical Genetics meeting on May 4 in Victoria B.C.
