June 9, 2016
On June 2, 2016 the Discipline of Genetics had three students graduate during Memorial University's 2016 Convocation – Dr. Erfan Aref-Eshghi, Ms. Amy Powell and Mr. Salem Werdyani. The discipline would like to wish them the best of luck in their new endeavors and thanks them for their hard work and dedication to the field of human genetics.

On April 14th, 2016 the Discipline held its fifth research forum. Students in the Human Genetics Graduate Program spoke on their ongoing work which ranges from gene discovery projects in colorectal cancer, deafness, blindness and intracranial aneurysms, to transcriptome profiling in psoriatic arthritis, to association studies in time to metastasis in colorectal cancer and food addiction and body fat distribution.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to research genetics? Three high school students from Newfoundland and Labrador recently got that chance at Memorial University’s Faculty of Medicine, thanks to the Gene Researcher for a Week program.
