The Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation, New York, USA, held a conference in October 1977, inviting founders of new medical programs in Britain, Canada and Hong Kong to give presentations. In the following year, as a result of the conference, the Foundation published a book entitled, New Medical Schools at Home and Abroad. Dr. Ian Rusted, a founder of the Medical School at Memorial University, contributed an article called “Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University,” for the publication.
