2009 BRAIN STORM COMPETITION

 

Congratulations to Michael Sloan, student at Bishop's College, St. John's.  He is our 2009 Brain Storm champion and will represent Newfoundland/Labrador in the 2nd Canadian Brain Bee in Hamilton, Ontario, May 30.

The postponed competition is now set for Sat. March 28 at the same time and place.

The preliminary results are now available.  You can see them by clicking on the panel to the left or here.  The student names are listed alphabetically by school.  This year, the cutoff was 18/40 and there was a maximum limit of 6 students per school.

LOTS OF COOL PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED AT THE MARCH 21 COMPETITION AND A LUNCHEON WILL BE SERVED.  COMPETITION BEGINS AT 10:00 am.  COMPETITORS SHOULD ARRIVE BY 9:30 am (9:45 at the latest).

 We will provide a modest subsidy reimbursement to help defray travel costs for those contestants who travel to St. John’s from some distance away.  The amount will depend upon distance traveled and the amount of funds available.

PLEASE GO TO 'CONTEST GUIDELINES' to the left for information about the setup of the final contest.  Use the 'Medical School Location' hyperlink to find out how to get to the medical school and its auditorium.  Please be there by 9:30 am.  The competition is usually completed by 1:30 pm.

The winner of this competition (and 1 chaperone)  will be eligible to attend the SECOND Canadian Brain Bee (CBB) at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario scheduled for May 29-30, 2009.  The winner of the CBB competition will be eligilble to go to the International Brain Bee (IBB) in the fall.
