Rural Medical Education Network

The Faculty of Medicine is currently undertaking both curriculum reform and the expansion of the MD and Postgraduate and Family Medicine programs and RMEN will be a key component of this expansion.

RMEN is a virtual component of the Faculty of Medicine that provides oversight for the distributed education activities carried out in the regional/rural settings.  The development of the Rural Network has increased opportunities for physicians to become an integrated part of the medical education along with the continuum of lifelong learning, to have responsibility for the administration of primarily the MD, but also the residency and CPD programs, to contribute to scholarship in education.

Our goal is to continue to develop, coordinate, support and strengthen medical education throughout the entire province.  When the full class expansion takes place and the new curriculum is adopted we hope to provide students with the support they will need for extended periods in rural areas.
