Ethics & Privacy
PTRG Statement of Ethical Conduct:
PTRG is committed to privacy compliant collection, use, storage and disclosure of personal information (including health information) in its custody.
The team continuously expands its privacy and ethics awareness to ensure the sensitive personal information we handle through our research is managed appropriately. Prior to conducting health research involving participants from the Newfoundland and Labrador population, all PTRG research activities must be approved by the designated Research Ethics Board.
As our research is based on personal health information, privacy protection and security measures are among our utmost priorities. We recognize that personal health information is highly sensitive. That is why our efforts are focused on balancing the protection of an individual's privacy rights with conducting population based research with collective benefit for individuals and families of Newfoundland and Labrador and beyond.
PTRG's privacy policies are based upon the Canadian Standards Association's (CSA) Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information.
