ADMISSION INFORMATION PHYSIOTHERAPY  PROGRAMS CANADA

Physiotherapy education in Canada is university based.  Students are strongly advised to consult directly with the universities to which they plan to apply in order to ensure an appropriate course selection.  The admission information outlined in the following pages was obtained in early September, 2004.  It is subject to change throughout the year.

OF SPECIAL NOTE:

Physiotherapy education in Canada is in major transition.  Entry-to-practice education is moving from an undergraduate degree to a Masters degree. Six of the thirteen Canadian Physiotherapy Programs have Entry-Level Masters Programs in place for the 2004/2005 academic year.  They are the Programs at the University of Toronto , University of Western Ontario , McMaster University , Queen’s University, University of Alberta and the University of British Columbia .  The other Canadian Physiotherapy Schools plan to make the change within the next several years.

Students applying for an Entry-Level Masters Program require successful completion of an undergraduate degree.  In addition, each individual Program normally requires a number of specified pre-requisite courses.

It is important to keep updated on the changing admission requirements for the individual Physiotherapy Schools.
