RESEARCH GOALS

 

To support research into the epidemiology of hematologic malignancies in Newfoundland and Labrador with a focus on genetic and environmental triggers and a special emphasis on primary resistant hematologic cancers.

To optimize the diagnosis and supportive care of patients with hematologic cancers, bone marrow failure syndromes and bleeding and clotting disorders.

To develop a provincial registry for patients with Factor V Leiden, the prothrombin gene mutation, and venous thrombo-embolic disease to compare patient outcomes with data from large registries.

To advance research on hemophilia and bleeding disorders in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

To promote research on new laboratory assays to measure hemostasis (blood coagulation) and platelet function.
