Fourth-year medical studies awards 2003-04

Michael Pelkey received the University Medal for Academic Excellence.                               

The Charles E. Frosst Medical Scholarship went to Justin French.      

Margaret Riley received the Medical Practice Associates Scholarship.          

The Dr. John M. Darte Memorial Fund went to Jamie Tibbo.             

Adam Rahman received the Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Ltd. Award.                                   

The Dr. Janice E. Lessard Scholarship in Geriatric Medicine went to Pamela Hebbard.           

John Thoms received the NL Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation (NCTRF) Scholarship Award.

The Mary Honeygold Scholarship/Bursary went to Michael Parsons.     

The Robert B. Salter Award was received by Sarah Jenkins.             

Tamara Spaic received the Canadian Foundation for Crohn’s and Colitis Student Book Award.

The Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Award went to Srindhi Jayaram.

Dr. Mark Stefannelli, Neurology, won the Dr. D.W. Ingram Award for outstanding clinical teaching. Dr. Ingram presented the award named in his honour.

The Silver Orator Award went to Dr. Jim Hutchinson, Infectious Diseases. It was presented by Tamara Spaic.

Jamie Farrell presented Paula Walsh with the Dr. Chip Nardini Award for being the graduating student best exemplifying leadership, friendliness, good humour, care and concern for fellow students and patients.

John Martin received the Dr. I.E. Rusted Award in recognition of his contribution to the graduating class, presented by Dean Emeritus Ian Rusted.The Greg Rideout Award, founded by the Class of 2003 in recognition of outstanding community involvement, was presented to Paul Heffernan (R) by Jamie Farrell.

Paul Heffernan (L) received the Greg Rideout Award, started by last year’s graduating class in recognition of outstanding community involvement. The award was presented by Jamie Farrell.

Dr. Steve Parsons, Obstetrics & Gynecology, won the Outstanding Intern/Resident Award, presented by Andrea Boone.

Dr. Mo Ravallia, Twillingate, received the Community Physician Teaching Award at Shingles Night from Erin Efford.

The MUNMED Choir provided entertainment at the dinner and dance for the graduating class.
