There were smiles all around as 34 guests joined new dean of medicine, Dr. James Rourke, at the Prince George Hotel in Halifax, April 23 for the first of a planned series of medical alumni receptions. Alumni and friends from the area as well as faculty and staff attending the Association of Canadian Medical Colleges meetings in Halifax had fun hearing from the new dean and former deans Drs. Ian Bowmer and David Hawkins. They also enjoyed hearing about upcoming medical alumni activities from Dr. Wayne Gulliver, president of the medical graduates’ society, and recent successes in graduate studies programs in medicine from Dr. Penny Moody-Corbett, the assistant dean of research and graduate studies. The Halifax alumni chapter helped to promote the event as part of their “meet the deans” series of events.
