Discipline of Medicine

The Discipline of Medicine is the largest clinical discipline in the Faculty of Medicine, with 44 geographic full-time members, 35 clinical part-time stipendiary members, 17 clinical part-time members, and 33 New Brunswick clinical part-time members. It encompasses areas of Internal Medicine including Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Hematology, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Medical Oncology, Nephrology, Neurology, Radiation Oncology, Respiratory Medicine, Rheumatology, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Through D2L many curricular materials for the MD program at Memorial University are presented via course-based web sites. These materials are meant to support in-class lecture, lab, tutorial, and small group sessions. Most course sites provide students with access to: course outlines, objectives, schedules, presentations & handouts, tutorials & cases, self assessment quizzes, as well as image collections and other multimedia instructional materials.

Students of internal medicine go straight into their programs after graduation. The normal period of training is four years post-MD.
