Update files for DAIS software on the Heart Health CD ROM. 1) When the CDs were produced they included a cut-off date (31/12/2001) for the
software. To fix the problem, download the following 2 files and use them
to replace those on your computer. You will probably find the files in the
directory "Program Files\DAIS\Data\Network". DAIS should then
work. 2) A user noted an error in the coding for HDL09F in DAIS and the codebook as provided on the CD. To correct this you need to import a new dataset file into DAIS. Download HHD8692.SQZ and HHD8692.INI into a folder on your hard drive (files must be in the same folder). Then, open DAIS and use the 'File - Import - Dataset' command to inport the SQZ file. The import process uses the INI file. Once this is done you will find that the new dataset is now in a new grouping 'General'. To correct this, open the dataset 'Canadian Heart Health Database, 1986-92' currently in 'General' by File-open-dataset, then when you see the window with tabs for identification, description etc., click on the 'dataset' option on the toolbar and choose 'Category/subcategory'. Change the category to 'The Canadian Heart Health Initiative' and subcategory to 'Canadian Heart Health Database'. Click 'OK'. You should now see the new codebook in its old location, i.e. under 'The Canadian Heart Health Initiative'. A new codebook is provided. You can copy this into the previous location for the file, which is probably 'MyFiles\Data\HeartHealthCDROM\PDF\HHD' on your C: drive. If the file is not there you will have to use your computer's file finder to locate it.
