Faculty Development

The interprofessional education faculty development leadership team consists of representatives of the  Counseling Centre, Faculty of Medicine, Schools of Nursing (3 sites), Pharmacy and Social Work, staff of CCHPE, and one or more student representatives. 

Its mandate is to enhance the knowledge, attitudes and skills of faculty to implement interprofessional education activities.  This will be achieved through the following activities: 


Faculty Development for Interprofessional Education at Memorial University began in 2007. All academic units involved in interprofessional education are invited to participate in faculty development activities.
  • Conducting periodic needs assessments as necessary regarding the needs of faculty for continuing education in IPE;
  • Planning, developing and evaluating appropriate IPE activities to meet the identified needs of faculty; and
  • Exploring ways to strengthen IPE activities at Memorial.

Faculty Development Workshops
To date, the Faculty Development Leadership Team has implemented four workshops:

Interprofessional Health Education (IPHE) Faculty Travel Awards
The purpose of the IPHE Faculty Travel Award is to support knowledge dissemination at peer-reviewed national and international conferences related to Interprofessional Health Education (IPHE) curriculum and/or research at Memorial.

The award is available to all faculty members of academic units participating in interprofessional education activities at Memorial.
