Message from the Dean
Over my last eight years as dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University I have been very proud to be a part of a team of faculty, staff and students who make our school such a success. We have seen significant growth and development in all aspects of our medical school. Funding to the Faculty of Medicine has stabilized, we have had some tremendous successes in research funding and have attracted vibrant new faculty. Our undergraduate program is in full compliance with the accreditation standards of LCME/CACMS, our graduate program has more than doubled, and our office of professional development has become a national leader. We have embarked on new ventures in education for the Atlantic region and our recent Faculty Retreat has given us recommendations for further developments in distributive learning and research growth. As I approach the end of my time as dean I am pleased to provide this summary of our activities over the past year. It illustrates a wide range of achievements by our faculty, staff and students and illustrates our commitment to serving the whole community.
